1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Roadster

It might already be sold, but you can still view the stunning beauty of this 1969 280SL with only 37,000 original miles!

It is very seldom that we find an original, low mileage survivor 280SL, but to find two in a row is absolutely amazing. This particular car has a wonderful documented history from new. It was sold new to a lady from Dover, MA, by Foreign Motors in Boston on April 22, 1969. She traded in a 1965 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible on it. She left it to her son on February 29, 1984 with only 20,008 miles. He started bringing it to us for service on May 31, 1988 with 26,790 miles. In the fall of 1989 we purchased it from the son and subsequnetly sold it to a local collector on November 15, 1989 with 27,226 miles on it.

Almost four years later, we bought it back from him on July 28, 1993 with 28,776 miles on it. He only drove it 1,500 miles during that time. We then sold it to a well known collector on August 3, 1993 with 28,780 miles on it.

After 18 years, we just bought it back with only 37,942 miles on it. We have many service records documenting the service and care this car has had through the years by its caretaker owners. It is a true original survivor car with original paint, chrome, carpets, interior, drive train, etc. The soft top canvas was replaced once and is in excellent condition. We just completed a major service and detail to bring it up to our high standards.

If you weren't lucky enough to ownb one of these in 1969 this car truly turns back the hands of time as this car looks, drives, and handles as it did when new. I believe this to be the best original, untouched 280SL in the country. As a restorer of these cars for the last 38 years, I can always restore one to like-new condition but I cannot create an original car - only Mercedes-Benz could have done that over 40 years ago!
